Georgia O'Keefe

The all time sensual flower painter - also known for her skulls and bones and Southwestern landscapes - she is photographed in several poses almost as if she is protecting her heart. A pretty woman, later in life, she was a most gorgeous woman - I would have liked to have met her - living there in the dessert like she was a queen who owned everything as far as her eyes could see and her paintbrush could touch.

I am familiar with her work - my former mother-in-law had some prints and books and was a big fan. I actually thought her work was quite lovely...

I like O'Keefe very much! Her lilies are always so full of sensuality and life.

And her paintings always remind me of Frida Kahlo'.

Yes, in ways she does remind me of Frida Kahlo too - who is another of my favorites - perhaps it is the purity of color and shape - an honesty in their style...

I taught my kids class about Georgia O'keefe a couple years ago. It was a fun lesson. I even had them do a large scale flower painting to get the idea of her firmly planted in their heads.

I love her stuff.
