This just makes me sick to my stomach. Valdez disaster happened in 1989. Exxon is still stalling thru court..2.5 billion in damages has yet to be seen. Litigation is dragging on. The devastation environmentally and economically is still compromising the creatures of Alaska and the United States.

Yah, it hurts. Then there was a horrible oil spill off coast of Russia as well - they think 30,000 ducks are dead - one report said. Saw the "Bee" movie - it made a good point - selfishness on the side of one person can affect a planet - ugh - what to do. I imagine you'll be getting some of the effects of the SF spill as well. I remember once going to the beach in California but couldn't swim because of the oil slick on the water.

Having lived on the west coast and my love for the west coast, this was tough to watch.

Thanks for sharing it.

How are you doing?

This is so upsetting. I could hardly watch the news yesterday about this...and how it had been not really noticed as so bad at first.

It was an accident. Accidents are usually very costly. Imagine, some caring human beings made some awful mistakes, leading up to this. Imagine how terrible they feel.

Yeh, I'm glad I don't drive those things - in view of all these oil accidents the last couple of weeks around the world, I wish there was some safety measures they could come up with.............

The captain of the Valdez was drunk, and had left an inexperienced officer in charge of navigating thru dangerous waters while he went below to sleep off his inebriation. Sad.
I feel no compassion for the captain but what an awful legacy that young man has to endure.
